Blower Door Testing

A Blower Door is a fan used to measure the air tightness of a buildings. Residential structures allowable air leakage rates are calculated by the volumetric size of the dwelling.

Section 
R402.4.1.2 of the 2015 Washington State Residential Energy Code requires this testing to be done on all new residential construction.

Duct Leakage Testing

Duct Leakage Testing is a method of measuring the airtightness of forced air heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) ductwork. The ductworks allowable air leakage rate is a percentage of the square foot area of the conditioned floor space of the dwelling.

Section R403.3.4 of the 2015 Washington State Residential Energy Code requires this testing for ducts and air handlers that are not located entirely within the conditioned space.
